Tulips in the Vase

Spring Flower Shares - Week One

Tulips w/ Apple blossoms and Curly Willow

Care Tips-

  1. Rinse the bottom stems in cool water.

Tulips can hold spring mud in all the little crevices created by their leaves. They get a bath twice before they get bunched for sale but some pesky soil can remain. A quick rinse in cool water can help.

  2. Give them room to grow.

Tulips will mature to their beautiful final color and open in the vase. Their stems also elongate as they mature. It’s beautiful to watch!
You may want to keep trimming the stems every few days as they grow longer. Or you can trim them a bit shorter when you first set them in the vase. Then enjoy watching them grow over the next few days. They will arch and curve in a lovely organic way. This is my preference. The matured, arched tulips always look like a renaissance painting to me!

  3. No flower food needed.

Tulips are one of the flowers which don’t benefit much from flower food. Just give them plenty of fresh, clear water. They are heavy drinkers!
